Question 1 - Why are companies/Scammers calling me?  I thought I was on the DNC list!

ANSWERS: a.) The National Do Not Call Registry is managed by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency.  This article explains a bit more for consumers; specifically, "My number is on the Registry, so why am I still getting illegal calls?"  And, it states:  "Since 2009, the FTC has seen a significant increase in the number of illegal sales calls – particularly robocalls. The reason is technology. Internet powered phone systems make it cheap and easy for scammers to make illegal calls from anywhere in the world, and to display fake caller ID information, which helps them hide from law enforcement."

So, that explains why we still get the calls.

SOLUTIONS: When I get a call, I believe these companies are being charged $$ every time someone presses for more information...so, that is what I do.  I make them earn that annoying call!

a.) I have sweetly asked the intruder for their home number, so I can call them back at a more convenient time. I inform them I am a 99 year old woman with one foot out the door, they don't seem to get that...so, I then state, I am about to kick the can...and when they struggle with their non-American accent and lack of humor, I then ask them how their grandparents are doing and if I can have their numbers so we can chat about our wonderful grand-kids: by then they have hung up.

One time a caller told me he was my oldest grandson...so, I said: wicked cool, what kind of time machine did you use to get back here to the 2000's...for some reason he didn't think that was funny.

Another caller

SOLUTIONS: a.) Currently, I sit in his room and do computer work, like I a am doing right now.  He recently informed me: "Mom is better than television because her voice is better and she talks while she works."  I guess that is an awesome compliment!

When I used, Do Not Call List, through the Google Search Engine, this was the page that came up.  (Very interesting the URL pulls the browser I used.  I wonder why?  [You will be able to see Chrome is the browser].)

I got several resources, of which two ere .gov extensions.

https://www.donotcall.gov/  (Shows: Verify your Report Unwanted Calls | Registration | Register your phone.

I went to Verify your Registration because I thought I registered the House and all family member cell phones, yet we are receiving more unwanted / unsolicated calls more than ever.

  1. You can verify if and when your phone number was registered.
  2. You can enter up to three phone numbers and your email address.
  3. You can check whether the information is correct.
  4. Receive an email with the verification information.

Oh, so not easy to do....but we are trying!

MsRubinChats' gentle comments:

1.) I believe preparing your child(ren) to what is expected in the evening helps with prepping for the

      inevitable bedtime.    Thoughts?
